The People of Campus Rec: Maeve
2/25/2020 8:30:00 AM | The Well
Driven, energetic, involved – that's Maeve. As a rising junior, she's accomplished a lot, from being recently promoted to Facility Operations Supervisor at Campus Rec, serving as Tri Delta's Social Chair and on the Executive Board of the Student Alumni Association, to being a Mentor for the DREAM program. Not to mention she's a full-time student studying Social Work and minoring in Specialized Education, Community Development, and Community Entrepreneurship. That's right, she has three minors! Despite her busy schedule, she remains extremely organized and gets it all done with a smile on her face.
It was the great social work program, epic skiing, and the beautiful town of Burlington that convinced Maeve to attend UVM. And we're so glad Maeve is here and has been working with us for a year and a half. Her dedication and passion for Campus Rec and her extracurricular activities is so impressive. But what drew her to this job?
"My brother was actually a Facility Supervisor at his college in Arkansas and he worked with my current boss years ago!" Reflecting back on her decision to work for Campus Rec, she knows she made the right choice. "I love the community feel, the lively and upbeat co-workers, making friends through this job, and talking with all the patrons."
Her main piece of advice for all students, specifically current Campus Rec staff is to "Find a way to get involved! Apply for leadership positions even if you don't think you are qualified for a program. You'll meet student staff from other areas of Campus Rec that you wouldn't usually meet!"
Do you want to share your love of Campus Rec or have a great story to tell? Let us know!
