Accessibility
University of Vermont Campus Recreation strives to provide a welcoming environment to all individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, spirituality, gender, gender identity/expression, age, sexual orientation, ability, veteran status, socioeconomic status, size, or national origin. We actively demonstrate our commitment to the success of all community members through our programs, policies, and services.

Staff Training
- We are committed to providing welcoming customer service, accessible facilities, and inclusive programs. To support this commitment, we offer a variety of training opportunities for both student and professional staff. These trainings cover important topics such as respectful customer service and addressing implicit bias, ensuring that all interactions are positive and inclusive.
- We strive to make sure that you always feel welcome in our building and at our events; however, if you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can speak with any of our student staff on duty, contact the main Campus Recreation desk at 802-656-4483, or submit an online feedback form here.
Fitness Programs Policies
Please note that all accommodations are determined through an interactive process that requires engagement from both the participant and staff. To facilitate this process, we ask that the participant request accommodations via email directly to fitness@uvm.edu. The nature of each request will be evaluated based on the trainer's or instructor’s expertise to support the accommodations, the program type, the available equipment, the safety of the participant, and the scope of the fitness professionals' practice.
Sport Programs Policies
The UVM Intramural Sports Program seeks to provide opportunities for all students to participate in its sport programs regardless of gender identification. While sport programs are typically offered in gender-based divisions, all individuals shall be permitted to participate in the UVM Intramural Sports Program (i.e., leagues, tournaments, etc.) in accordance with the gender they most closely identify. If an individual or team is unsure of which division would be most appropriate in which to participate, please contact the Assistant Director of Sport Programs ((802) 656-7706) to work with professional staff to determine which division would most appropriately fit the participation needs of the individual or team.
Non-Gendered Attire Statement
- In an effort to be inclusive of all personal workout attire preferences, participants are encouraged to wear whatever attire honors their workout experience most.
- What does this mean in practice?
- Beyond facility and program specific apparel policies (i.e. closed toe/heel shoes in the fitness center), we do not require gender-specific attire.
- In the pool, we ask that patrons wear clean attire that is most comfortable for their needs. Examples include swimsuits, athletic shorts/shirts, athletic pants, or water shoes. To ensure your safety, please do not wear cotton, jeans, socks, street shoes, or solely undergarments.
Accessible Lockers
- We provide rentable ADA lockers within the men’s pool locker room and women’s pool locker room. To inquire about the availability of these lockers, please email campus.recreation@uvm.edu.
