Participant Conduct Policy
UVM Campus Recreation is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all members of the UVM community. All patrons are expected to act appropriately and be respectful of others while utilizing Campus Recreation facilities and/or participating in our programs. Examples of inappropriate behavior include, but are not limited to, use of obscene/offensive language and/or behavior, interference with UVM employee’s performance of their job duties and verbal or physical abuse of other participants or staff members. While using UVM recreational facilities, patrons must abide by all UVM rules, policies and regulations and shall not do or cause any act which will injure or harm any person or persons, or which may in any way mar, deface, over-stress, or damage UVM property. Use of drug/alcohol/tobacco/vaping products is not permitted on Campus, including Campus Recreation facilities. Use of Campus Recreation Facilities while impaired by drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited.
Patrons involved in actions deemed inappropriate, dangerous, or disruptive will be subject to immediate removal from the UVM campus by UVM or by law enforcement officials. Should a patron be removed or suspended from UVM Campus Recreation facilities/programs, they will become immediately ineligible for further access to the facilities until they meet with the appropriate Campus Recreation professional staff member to discuss the incident. Resulting consequences will be determined in UVM’s sole discretion and not subject to appeal. Depending on the conduct, consequences may include permanent loss of rights to use the UVM recreational facilities. The suspended patron may email Campus.Recreation@uvm.edu to schedule an appointment. Additionally, Campus Recreation may refer the patron to the UVM Center for Student Conduct.
