UPDATED 2/1/21:
Hey, UVM, welcome back to campus! All of us at Campus Rec missed seeing your smiling faces. We know campus continues to look a little different this semester from your courses to Howe Library, the dining halls, and even Campus Rec. Even though it might look different, we are still here to keep you moving! You may be wondering, "Is the fitness center open?" or, "Can I still take my favorite group fitness classes?" I'm here to tell you that the answer is a resounding, "Yes!"
What does a group fitness class look like during COVID?
Group fitness looks just a little bit different than it has in the past. We want to keep everyone active, but our first and foremost priority is keeping everyone safe. This means we have implemented new practices that follow UVM's COVID-19 response guidelines.

Group fitness looks just a little bit different than it has in the past. We want to keep everyone active, but our first and foremost priority is keeping everyone safe. This means we have implemented new practices that follow UVM's COVID-19 response guidelines.
Before Going to Class:
- Make sure you sign-up for a group fitness pass on IMLeagues, this is required. You can buy your pass now to access classes through May!
- You can sign up for a class 7 days in advance. Registration opens at 12am Mondays and closes when the class starts or the class is full.
- Ensure you get to class at least 10 minutes before the start time or else your spot may be forfeited to someone on the waitlist.
- If you can't make it to class, please cancel your reservation 2 hours in advance. If you "no call, no show," that prevents other students from being able to take your spot. Your account will be charged $10.
- Complete your daily health screening on the CoVerified app.
- A water bottle filled with ice-cold water.
- Your mask.
- A towel if necessary. These will not be provided by Campus Rec due to COVID-19 regulations.
- A mat if you are taking a class that requires one. The use of Campus Rec's yoga mats and props is not allowed at this time.
- Classes will be limited to 30-45 minutes to shorten the exposure period.
- Every participant will wash their hands before class begins so we can keep those outside germs away!
- If you take a class that uses equipment, you will wipe it down before use.
- Make sure to maintain 6 ft of physical distance away from everyone while you are checking in and while you are exercising.
- We won't be using fans, but we will prop open windows and doors to try to keep you cool!
- Everyone is required to wear a mask during the entirety of the class. Make sure to self-regulate the intensity of your workouts.
- Finally, get your body moving with guidance from our amazing instructors!
- Wipe down any equipment that was used.
- Wash or sanitize your hands.
- Go home and check IMLeagues to sign up for your next class!
