How to Stay Active Over Winter Break
12/10/2019 8:00:00 AM | The Well
From all of us at Campus Rec, congrats on getting through this semester! Winter break is fast approaching, and whether you're headed back home for the holidays or are hanging around campus, we hope you have a happy and healthy vacation. Here are a few tips to stay active over break!
GET INTO A ROUTINE
During break, it would be the easiest thing in the world to get home from work or hanging with friends and lie on the couch for weeks on end. One crucial step towards staying active over break is to maintain a routine that incorporates both exercise and rest alike. Whether you're hitting the gym, sticking to at-home cardio, or shoveling your heart out, consistency is key!
WORKOUT WITH FRIENDS
Between work, friends, and winter fun, keeping up the motivation to work out over break is tough. One way to encourage yourself to keep moving is to exercise with friends! Head to the gym together and keep an eye out for local fitness events to get you and your group moving.
FIND SOMETHING YOU ENJOY
Winter break is the perfect time to find a new form of exercise you might enjoy!
Try new things! Perhaps you've never been to a local fitness group, or want to try running outside. Whatever it is, a new fitness routine is the best gift you can give yourself this holiday season!
DON'T OVERWORK YOURSELF!
You may find yourself with an abundance of time on your hands now that classes are done! Even if that's the case, 'tis the season to pace yourself. We can't recommend running a marathon by January if you've never raced before, and if you're picking up weights for the first time, make sure you're working at a level you can handle.
Good luck during finals, and we'll see you next semester!
