Why intramural sports rock!

The first semester of school is already in full swing, but Campus Rec is just getting started! The second session of our Intramural Sports program is now open for registration. If you're unsure about whether or not to pick up a sport this semester, here are some great reasons why you should give intramurals a shot! We're pretty sure you'll agree- INTRAMURALS ROCK!

You can try something new…

Sports may have not been your thing in high school. That's perfectly fine! College is a great place to expand your horizons and to try new things. The intramurals offered by Campus Rec have different sections for different skill levels. If you're looking for a new thing to try while at UVM, a new sport could be just the thing for you!

or keep up an old hobby!

It's hard to keep up with the sports you loved in high school once you come to college. You might be too busy with classes, unsure about the time commitment of club sports, or intimidated by playing at the varsity level. Intramurals are a great way to dust off your old ice skates, court shoes, or rackets and get back in the game you love! Most sports sections only meet once a week, giving you the perfect opportunity to play without getting too in over your head.

Make new friends, or spend time with old ones!

You might have the ideal line up already created before you even register for an intramural sport. That's great! Intramural sports are a great way to spend some time with friends doing what you love. However, if you don't have a team, that's not a problem. You can register as a Free Agent and get picked up by a team looking for a player! This is a great way to make connections with people that have a mutual interest.

Destress!

With classes in full swing, the stresses of college have set in. One of the best ways to get your mind off of what's getting you down is to exercise! If you need a way to get out from behind those textbooks, intramural sports are just the de-stressor you need!

These are just some of the many reasons why you should give intramural sports a try this semester! Our second session of the year includes 3v3 Ice Hockey, Co-Rec Basketball, Doubles Tennis, and Volleyball. You can also register for our upcoming Pickleball and Badminton Doubles tournaments! Registration ends October 21.
