Swim Program for Women
Sponsored through a partnership with the Mosaic Intercultural Center
This learn-to-swim series is for women who have yet to have the opportunity to learn how to swim due to various cultural and social barriers. Women-only swim lessons provide a safe and respectful environment for Muslim women to swim and exercise while maintaining their modesty and cultural practices. These sessions honor their religious and personal needs, allowing them to participate fully in recreational activities. Additionally, women from urban and rural areas often lack access to swimming facilities due to limited infrastructure, financial barriers, or a lack of swimming programs, making swim lessons essential for building confidence, ensuring safety, and promoting physical health. Similarly, trans women often face barriers such as discrimination, lack of access to inclusive spaces, and concerns about their safety and comfort in traditional swimming environments. Our program aims to create an inclusive space where all women can feel comfortable, supported, and empowered to learn and thrive, providing a sense of belonging, security, and comfort.
Lessons take place over six (6) sessions, and participants are encouraged to attend all sessions.
