Morning Workout (Athletic Complex, Fitness Center) Get your sweat on in Peeps’ Boot Camp. We are offering a 45-minute HIIT Style total body workout presented by Matrix. This high energy program is also known as the CRANNE Social justification session. Limited to the first 20 people who register. 9:00 AM Welcoming & Opening Session (ACC 106) The morning will begin with opening remarks from the CRANNE Conference planning committee and some brief networking. Intended Audience: All conference attendees 9:30 AM Vendor Fair & Coffee Social (Lobby)  Grab a coffee and spend time with our sponsors who have generously supported this years CRANNE Conference. Attendees should plan to pick-up their conference t-shirt at the College Promo table. Utilizing Unused Spaces to Maximize Your Program Offerings and Participant Usage (ACC 105A) - 1.0 NIRSA CEUs Presenter: Rebecca Cofod, Group Training Solutions Manager, Matrix Fitness HIIT/VIIT training is one of the most popular topics on college campuses today. This presentation will help you think creatively about the spaces you may be able to transform to provide these offerings for your students and patrons while encompassing student development as well. In this presentation, Rebecca will share ways to identify and maximize the potential of unused spaces in your facility to offer new programs to students and patrons. She will also share Matrix’s turnkey offerings which include group training equipment, programming, and support that help you create spaces that can engage more students and faculty. Sometimes a hiring committee has a clear choice, but in most situations a decision on who to hire comes down to the smallest of details. These are the factors that will be explored during this presentation, starting with looking at a comparative applicant rating sheet to help you understand what employers are looking for in a candidate. More Than A Paycheck: Creating a Co-curricular Experience to Engage & Empower Student Staff (ACC 105A) - 1.0 NIRSA CEUs Presenters: Shelby Hinkle Smith, Cyrus Carey & Jordan Olson - University of Vermont This session will provide an overview of a comprehensive student development program that engages students in the process of critically thinking about their professional and personal goals, and how these relate to, and can be developed through, their work with Campus Recreation, thus increasing their engagement and motivation. Let’s Talk Turf: A look at two institutions’ turf field projects and the lessons learned (ACC 105B) - 1.0 NIRSA CEUs Presenters: Jason Incorvati - University of Massachusetts & John Luk - University of Massachusetts-Lowell UMass Lowell opened a turf facility in spring 2018 and UMass Amherst is opening a turf facility in fall 2019. This presentation will discuss the histories of the projects, strategies for institutional support for similar projects, design and maintenance considerations, and additional lessons learned. Intended Audience: Mid-level Managers, Senior Leadership 3:20 PM Remarkable Resumes & Crafty Cover Letters (ACC 106) - 1.0 NIRSA CEUs Presenters: Jordan Olson - University of Vermont & De'Jha Pontoo - University of Rhode Island This session will cover everything you need to know about preparing your application materials (resume & cover letter) for your next job search. In this interactive presentation, attendees will get tips and tricks related to resume formatting, writing complex statements describing your job responsibilities and accomplishments, and understanding what information should be communicated in a cover letter versus a resume. Attendees should bring a copy of their cover letter and resume to review during this session. Learning Outcomes:
Rec4All: Expanding Inclusion in Recreation Programs (ACC 105A) - 1.0 NIRSA CEUs Presenter: Kari Post - Landmark College This interactive session will explore ways in which recreation professionals can create more welcoming environments for diverse students of different backgrounds, identities, and abilities in competitive and recreational sports, fitness, and outdoor programs and activities. Group breakout sessions will center around applying key concepts of diversity and inclusion to real-world scenarios, and participants will leave with strategies to implement upon returning to their institutions. Esports: Why Now Is The Time (ACC 105B) - 1.0 NIRSA CEUs Presenters: Jim Delorie & Martin Schelasin - Thomas College Esports, or competitive video-gaming, is rapidly growing both as an industry and as a beloved hobby of participants around the globe. In the space of collegiate recreation, esports has already picked-up momentum and for a short time still presents a first-mover opportunity for recreation professionals to provide an engaging and much-desired activity to their student bodies. This opportunity is not without its challenges. The world of collegiate esports is a nascent tech-driven space with decentralized governance and no real roadmaps, but, that’s all the more reason to be in it. In this presentation Thomas College’s Assistant Dean for Student Engagement, Jim Delorie, and Esports Head Coach, Martin “Anderzz” Schelasin, will explain the lay of the land for collegiate esports and provide insight into the logistics of launching and maintaining a leading esports program.
