Stay Active Over Winter Break
12/15/2020 10:06:00 AM | General
From all of us at Campus Rec, congrats on getting through this extraordinary semester! Winter break is HERE, and now that you're home for the holidays we hope you have a happy and healthy vacation. Here are a few tips to stay active over this long & cold break!
GET INTO A ROUTINE
Winter break is extended this year which means you'll probably end up falling into some sort of routine. It's up to you to make the most of your routine by finding the perfect balance of both exercise and rest alike. So if you're going for walks, doing daily yoga, or shoveling 12+ inches of snow, keeping your exercise routine consistent is key!
STREAM FITNESS CLASSES THROUGH YOUTUBE OR A FITNESS APP
With gyms being closed or only offering limited capacity, working out at home might be the best way to get you exercise in. There are great fitness gurus on YouTube that you can check out or download a fitness app. Don't forget to check out our Instagram page to keep up with Eric's Campus Rec personal training IGTV videos!
FIND AN ACTIVITY THAT WORKS FOR YOU
Not everyone enjoys doing squats every day so make sure you're picking activities that get you excited to get moving. If you're looking to take it easy, try yoga or a series of stretching exercises. If you want to get your blood pumping, try a core workout or even attempt the dreaded leg day. Another great option is spending some time outdoors! Snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or sledding are all solace activities you can participate in while remaining socially distanced.
DON'T OVERWORK YOURSELF!
You may find yourself with an abundance of time on your hands now that classes are done and break is extended! Even if that's the case, 'tis the season to pace yourself. We can't recommend running a marathon by January if you've never raced before, and if you're picking up weights for the first time, make sure you're working at a level you can handle.
We'll see you next semester!
